Barreda takes convincing stage win
Husqvarna Rallye Team by Speedbrain rider Joan Barreda has dominated Thursday´s stage of the Sealine Cross Country Rally in Qatar. The Spaniard won by over seven minutes from World Champ Helder Rodrigues. Barreda stole more than nine minutes from KTM ace Marc Coma.

"Hurricane" Barreda was fairly angry. He had picked up a time penalty of two hours on Wednesday after the jury decided he had missed a crucial waypoint by five metres. Normally the penalty is 15 minutes in such a case, but the organisers of the Qatar debut event generally made it a two-hour penalty, heavily affecting the scoreboard.
Therefore Barreda had to start the stage in 33rd position in the morning. Barreda nevertheless powered his Husqvarna TE 449 RR by Speedbrain to the front of the pack, winning by a comfortable margin - his second stage win. Barreda showed his class also when stopping and helping a fellow competitor out of a misery. Francisco Lopez was trapped under his machine.
Barreda said: "It´s very frustrating. I can´t understand the jury decision. We´re talking a few metres, it´s a drastic measure. I will keep fighting for top stage results."
Paulo "Speedy" Goncalves, second rider at Husqvarna Rallye Team by Speedbrain, was riding convincingly and smart again today. Goncalves crossed the line just two seconds behind Coma, finishing fourth. He´s now 12th overall after loosing a lot of time yesterday due to a tyre problem.
Team principal Wolfgang Fischer: "Respect, Joan and Paulo showed a lot of mental strength. Both had bad luck in the last 24 hours, and they still managed to fully attack."
